Lightroom 5 Time Lapse Templates For Invitations
Adobe has released a public beta version of its Photoshop Lightroom 5 workflow and image editing software and we've had some time to look at its latest features. Available immediately for free download from Adobe Labs, the beta introduces a more advanced healing/cloning tool, automatic image leveling and perspective correction, a new selective editing tool and the ability to edit files that are offline.
As with any pre-release software, please keep in mind that this is a beta release intended to generate user feedback and identify performance issues. The tools and features on offer may be changed before final release and we do not recommend using beta software for any mission critical work.
And as always with Lightroom public betas, to begin working, you must import images into a new version 5-compatible catalog. You cannot update version 4 and earlier catalogs in Lightroom 5 beta. Ready to get started?

Time Lapse In Lightroom
@RedFox88: May I suggest actually doing the install on your own Mac? I was not referring to an installation file, but to the size of the actual LR3.app vs LR5b.app after install, which increased.ten.
fold. That's faster than Moore's Law. Useful stuff, hopefully, but 1.1GB is a Very Large App nonetheless. @cfp13: yes, I know, just like in LR3;-), but it is not what I meant. I was hoping LR5 would finally be a.true.
full screen Mac app, meaning it uses its own unique space, supports 4-finger-swiping to switch spaces, etc. As Cornerstone, BBEdit, Vienna, Safari, Aperture, Sonos, iTunes and many, many others have done for years, so it can't be that complicated. So, thanks again.
Will check again in 6 months or so to see if it's worthwhile. Not sure if you have seen that there were few posts during the time when 5D3 was released.
They first processed CR2 files in high contrast scenes by pulling shadow +2 (DPP only limits to 2-stop) before importing into LR for further processing. That technique shows noticeably less banding (more accurately red channel) in deep dark shadow than by processing in LR4 directly. I tried that in a few my 5D2 files and I can see also that reduced banding (after pulling shadows many stops) a bit.
I just hope the new LR5/ACR 8 will have similar option to suppress banding. It will not increase DR of course but at least not to show banding obviously. I agreed Canon needs to improve sensors.
Hope the sensor in SL1 is better, and matches to Sony sensors when 7D2 is released. I have often wondered why LR does not use face recognition for the AUTOTONE. When a backlit portrait gets the autotone treatment, LR will underexpose it by 2-3 stops. Before everyone starts with the “get it right in camera” talk.
One does not have the luxury to tell the bride to stop during the processional as she walks into the window lit areas and use a lightmeter, forcing one to use Av Priority and compensate as appropriate. Having face priority autotone on the initial import would go a long way with the culling process.
I actually find face recognition in a camera to be useless. If I want to compose and focus on the face, I will do so manually. If I want to capture a smile, I'll do a burst and pick the one with the right expression. Face recognition is useful precisely for tagging, and it is tremendously useful at that. Maybe you have no need for it, but lots of people do.
Serial in parallel out shift register verilog code. I have zero need for making books in LR (I've made photo books before, just no need to do so in LR), and likewise zero need to do web albums in LR. Quite frankly I think both those features are completely extraneous to what LR does well and should be in separate products. Whereas face tagging is a potentially integral part of an existing feature (tagging and cataloging).That. is why I criticise its lack, because it contributes to a fundamental LR feature in ways many other added features do not (i.e.
More book creation stuff). I'm not saying book-making is useless, just that I see no reason for it to be integrated into LR. After decades of constantly battling with windows based architecture I bit the bullet and bought a S/H Mac Pro 1.1 that is the most amazingly capable (and stable) computer I have ever owned.
I handles LR4 and photoshop apps with ease and speed, but runs Snow Leopard (IOS 10.6.8). I have used every version of LR since it's inception. Why no support for LR5 running under Snow Leopard then? I'm an enthusiastic amateur photographer who makes a living driving taxi's and enjoys tinkering with images. I'm gutted that whilst I would happily pay for an upgrade. Adobe have just lost my custom by making themselves even more exclusive. I really want to see an option to customize the interface so that instead of drop down (scroll down forever.
) tabs it was possible to use horizontally tabbed menus or to 'tear off' the RAW develop module so that it operates on a separate screen by itself. When I use ACR module the layout is easier to use and does not require constant downward navigation and the annoying opening and closing of arrowed drop down tabs. There is much that is good about LR's interface but this issue drives me nuts, slows me down and has me using ACR standalone quite often instead of the fiddly, small interface components provided in LR for the same task.
And another thing I really want is the ability to not just import to two drives but to see the changes I make, keywords, processing instructions and so on be writable to both of the copies I imported in the first place. I would love that. Adobe has released Photoshop Lightroom 4.3 and Adobe Camera Raw 7.3. These are final versions of updates that were originally posted as 'release candidates' on the Adobe Labs site, and are available for immediate download. The latest versions provide RAW support for 13 additional cameras, including the Canon EOS 6D, Nikon D5200 and Sony DSC-RX1. The Mac version of Lightroom features a Develop module that supports Apple's HiDPI mode, that makes the interface easier to read on the 'Retina' panels used on recent Macs.

I wanted to get the entire dynamic range of the scene into my photos.
