McBeth

A rough day on the course for Paul McBeth September 14, 2017 The second round of Discraft’s Green Mountain Championship saw Paul McBeth start out on the Fox Run course with Ricky Wysocki, Charlie Goodpasture, and Peter McBride on the chase card. Paul was -11 going into the round today. Paul McBeth started off the day pretty decent (for Paul standards), sitting 3 down on the day after 6 holes. During those holes the chase card had caught up to the third card, significantly slowing play. This led to the chase card being in an unfortunate place when the rain started.

On hole seven as the chase card teed off, the rain began to fall. Off the drive Paul’s shot went OB on the right. Someone picked up Paul’s disc and set it on the edge of the OB line making the overall OB position unclear. Paul stepped up to his agreed upon lie and then threw a second shot which hugged the OB and ultimately ended up out of bounds. He ended up carding a bogey six on the hole. This began the start of a frustrating round for Paul which ultimately ended in a way no one would wish for a player. On hole eight Paul watched his drive and upshot both go OB.
This led to him carding a double bogey six. On hole nine Paul went OB on his drive. This led to him carding a bogey four. Paul was able to snap his OB streak by throwing within 10 feet of the pin on hole 10 and carding a birdie. On Hole 11 Paul McBeth carded a quadruple bogey after going OB three shots in a row. On holes twelve and thirteen Paul attempted to get things back on track but ultimately what was revealed as a back injury which occurred yesterday got the best of him.

It was at this time that Paul decided it would be better for him to end the round before things got any worse. Per a discussion with tournament staff Paul pulled his back yesterday and attempted to play through the pain today. He believes this injury is not related to his previous back issues and he hopes to be back to playing by USDGC. We wish Paul all of the best and will look forward to watching him compete at the Pro Tour Championship in October. Posted In.
