Keylauncher Ps2 Download Roms

You will need a mod chip of some sort for my boot cd to work. When I say 'bootcd' I mean that it has everything you need on one cd to play snes or genisis games as well as geting into the HDD where all your normal ps2 games should be. This is mainly for lazy people like myself who do not like swapping discs ever (now that I have the hdd) I can make this into a MC exploit as well.

But you would lose the snes and genesis functions. Well I guess I could keep the genisis since it is designed to work off the hdd. (havnt tested it yet though) But the other main reason for my boot cd was because the exploit usually takes 1 - 3 mb of space on a 8 mb mc. So I didnt want to be wasting all that space when I could be using it for game saves.

If I made this into a MC exploit I would have to dump a LOT of the programs that I have on the boot cd because it is currently 7 mb. It would completly fill ONE entire MC.

ALso you would need a ps1 disc as the boot disc, and then you would need some sort of swap method to play a snes emulator. I could possibly make a exploit that loads launchelf off the exploit, then make a second disc that you could use with cogswap loader. That disc could be the EXACT same as the one currently availible. In fact I could make cogswap loader the default boot elf with the exploit.

The problem is ANYTIME you wanted to run a ps2 elf file you would need to do the swap. Which completly takes the purpose of this disc away. Let me know if there is a desire for such an exploit and I will make one up real quick.

Also let me know what you think is the best method. I can make it load into launchelf, and include the hdloader, and genesis, and cogswap. Then you can load the basic 3. If you wanted ALL the functions, you could then use cogswap loader to swap into my REAL boot cd and have ALL the fuinctions. But this way at least you could get to the hd with a nice GUI version instead of using that stupid ps2menu (sorry to the guy that made it but I find it NOT user friendly).

I tried it as well on DVD and it didnt work. I am pretty sure that the DVD player is not designed to play elf files. Or there is something else at work here. Anyway I have about 100 Snes games, 60 Genisis games and a bunch of Sega games all on one CD and still have 200 MB left. So I dont think there is a need to play off DVD yet. As for the mod chip question: I boot of a Duo2 SR mod chip. But ANY mod chip that allows you to direct boot of a CD based PS2 game will work fine.

I have been working with another guy that had troubles using swap magic. He finally got it to work by a cross between Keylauncher and my CD. I suspect the dummy file is what did it. I am going to be making a new cd revision that will include this dummy file. This should allow my CD to boot with ANY current swap method, as well as ANY mod chip.

If anyone has noticed it didnt work for them, and what they did to fix it I would love to hear about it. That way I can fix it for everyone else. To be honest I have never used cogswap loader or cd loader. I am under the impression that they allow you to play backups just like swap magic does. It would not be dificult to make a MC exploit that ONLY had cogswap loader on it. Just take the exploit for keylauncher, stick ONLY cogswap loader in the FILES folder for the exploit. Rename COGSWAPLOADER to BOOT.ELF.

This way when you stick your trigger cd in with your mc in slot 1 it will boot right into cogswap loader. Then you can put your disc in. This would make it ALMOST the same as swap magic. The problem is that you still need to figure out exactly how cogswap loader boots a backup. I think you need to put an original game in first then press X, then wait for some screen to show up then slide card the tray open then swap it for your backup.

(not sure though).

I have searched the Internet and gotten conflicting information, which is only complicated by the existence of the original HDLoader and the knockoff HDAdvance products. This is made more complicated still by the fact that there are now HDAdvance 2.0 and HDAdvance 3.0.

Ps2 Full Rom Set

I already know that original HDLoader does not circumvent the PS2's built-in region checking. So you cannot pop your import game into your PS2's drive from HDLoader and expect it to work unless you do the slide trick. I'm clumsy and uncoordinated enough that doing the slide trick is pretty much out of the question for me. I'm also not going to modchip my PS2, it's just not worth it anymore when HDLoader can run any game which finds its way onto the HDD.

With original HDLoader you need to use HDLdump or WinHIIP to put the import game on the HDD, once it's there HDLoader will happily boot and run the game. So, the question is, and I have not gotten anything resembling a definitive answer on this, can you install import games directly with HDAdvance? Since there are now 3 versions of HDAdvance (original 1.0, which is an exact hacked knockoff of HDLoader and has the same limitations, and the patched 2.0 and 3.0), I would need to know which version can install the import games directly. Obviously if worst comes to worst I can simply drag out the HDD from the PS2 and attach it to my PC and WinHIIP the import games onto the HDD. This is only moderately a pain in the ass, though if I buy a cheap USB2.0 enclosure to stick the drive in it becomes considerably easier. Any advice would be appreciated. For the warez nazis out there, my primary goal with this whole endeavour is simply to play Final Fantasy X International and Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission.

Yes, they are actual bought versions of these games from Play-Asia. Yes, they cost me a fortune. No, I don't give a shit how much they cost. Thanks for your concern though. Originally posted by crestfallen: I think you can do what you want with Swap Magic and a fliptop lid for your ps2.

Generally speaking I VERY MUCH prefer the swap methods over chipping, slide tools, or HDs. I know a few friends of mine have brought over burned copies of Japanese shooter games and I have been able to play them, here in the US. Is the sort of thing you're talking about? Looks like it requires a bit of surgery on your PS2 (judging from the link to the install instructions).

Does it make your PS2 collect dust inside the DVD drive faster? It does look kind of cool, though. I guess since Sony's legendary PS2 warranty is just 3 months I might as well just break the damn warranty seal. I have lots of success with using WiNHIIP. I had a firewire enclosure, so it was easy for me. I just popped the drive in and copied my games over. Enclosures can be found cheap and not only will it help you with imports and DVD 9's, but its a lot faster and saves wear and tear on your PS2.

Seeing as to how you probably want to dump your whole collection to it, this would help. Also, Shudder's recommendation about the memory card trick for HDL is a great idea. The new version has much higher compatibility. Is this the sort of thing you're talking about? Does it make your PS2 collect dust inside the DVD drive faster? It does require a little surgery, though nothing more complicated than unscrewing the case with newer PS2s. Older PS2s require a little more work. No, the cases do not come with instructions, but you may find guides with pictures on some 'enthusiast' sites. EDIT: Just inspected my PS2.

I don't think there is any more dust than usual in there, as you can still close the lid-in fact, it is necessary! I would think it would actually make it easier to clean, if anything. OK, well I found a download of HDLoader 0.7c, now how exactly does one do this memory card exploit thing? I guess you're supposed to boot up with whatever version of HDLoader/Advance you bought, and then you do something to execute the new version you have on your memory card, or something? Apparently Western Digital hard drives are not compatible with the PS2 Network Adapter out of the box because the IDE connector is in the wrong place. People seem to recommend Maxtor HDDs, so I guess I should get one of those from Newegg. OK, well I have some stupid questions: Do I actually need to have an actual PS1 game to do this memory card exploit?

Why can't I just boot the patched HDLoader as an ISO image on the HDD from my HDAdvance 2.0 disc? Does this work? I'm assuming even though you are using a PS1 game, that the exploit files should be loaded onto a PS2 memory card? I'm thinking about just picking up a used copy of PS1 FFVII. I might as well since I've been planning on replaying FFVII for ages and I don't feel the urge to jump through a dozen hoops to make my old copy of FFVIIPC work again.

1) Probably would work, wouldn't bother though. Would be slower since you would have to boot HDLoader 2x, once off the dvd, and once off the hd.

2) Mine are, not sure if a PS1 card would even work. 3) Good idea, you can just use it in the drive instead of hdloader, thereby getting a good game and solving #1 =). Ok, well I did try loading HDLoader from the HD after booting with HDAdvance, and it doesn't work. It just goes to a black screen. So I guess I do in fact need a PS1 game. I'm going to see if I can hunt up a copy of FFVII. On the up side, I've tested HDAdvance itself with a few games which work with it, and I must say, now that I've experienced INSTALOAD(tm) Technology I don't know if I can ever go back.

Games load SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fast now it's ridiculous. I think I'm in love. If HDLoader was a woman, I swear I would marry it. Originally posted by topsoill: oh, i see, thx. So it goes like this: The exploit i just that, an exploit. To take advantage of it, you have to add additional files in the memory card (whatever those files might be) to do what you actually want to do. The order of operations instead of booting off your HD Advance disc is the ps2 attempts to boot your ps1 disc.

Because of an memory overflow bug that happens when checking save files involving the ps1 disc it instead ends up running whatever unsigned code you want, in this case HD Advance. This also happens to be even faster than booting off the original HD Advance dvd, because it just quickly checks the ps1 disc and does the rest off the memory card, instead of the slower dvd. To get there you have to launch an ftp server using HD Loader and then you can transfer the necessary 'expoit' files to the memory card.

So you end up getting an even faster boot time, the ability to easily update HD Advance to the latest and greatest version, plus you can use just about any ps1 disc while safely storing your HD Advance disc in the back up pile for emergency use. It was a pain in the arse to get working for me, but once you do it's great, especially with all the work that has been done with HD Advance/Loader.

This site helped me out a lot when I was first doing it. My vote for best/worst game after using the HD Loader has got to be the Champion's of Norrath series.

It's a pain to get them working being that the first one is DVD9, but man oh man does it fly once you get it up and running. I sense some confusion here. IF you have Swap Magic, you can download a DVD of the memory card exploit-alternatively, you can DL the files and build your own exploit. Boot it with the SM DVD and push X. It will install the exploit onto your PS2 memory card.

You will need anywhere from about 2-5MB depending on what applications you choose to install with the exploit. If you have a sufficiently large titles.db file, you can use pretty much any PS1 disc as a trigger to load the mem card exploit. Once it boots, you will see a menu with up to 4 options.

The most common use of the mem card exploit is to load CD-based PS2 games. Because a HUGE number of people simply cannot boot the SM CD. Choose cogswaploader from the menu, put in an ORIGINAL PS1 game with a high TOC (DMC, Tekken Tag Tournament) and wait for the icon to change.

Then put in the cd-based game a friend let you copy, or whatever. Push X and have fun!

NOTE: you can also swap DVDs with this method, and provided you have a high TOC original PS2 DVD, you can boot ANY game. The tutorial at PS2HD.com says HDLoader doesn't like being the boot file for the exploit, thats why you're supposed to use keylauncher. I'm still working on installing the exploit, apparently I put the execftps iso together wrong or something. Facelees, i think i found the easiest way to make the exploit and add any options you want. I dunno if i can put a link here, but google for 'Independence Compiler 4.1'. It makes a iso for you ready to be burnt. Ofcourse, you're still gonna need hdavance or swap magic to be able to boot of the CD-R.
